Window Cleaning Tips for Home Owners

After having your home pressure washed it may be necessary to do some window cleaning. In most circumstances, a pressure washing company will use the home owner's water source to complete a job avoiding the extra cost of hauling water to the site.

Even if the properties water is softened inside, normally it is not at the outside hose bib. There is little way of knowing how hard the water may be. Water hardness is measured by the amount of calcium and mineral deposits present in the water.

When water is very hard it can leave hard water streaks and spots on windows after it dries. This is something that a pressure washing company cannot avoid in most cases. Some contractors use a rinse aid which helps a little but not completely. Some people ask the pressure washing company if they offer window cleaning or if they know of a window cleaning professional.

Some may choose to clean their windows themselves. Here are a couple of window cleaning tips to follow. Use newspaper instead of paper towel and try this homemade window cleaning solution for hard water spots; combine 2 cups of water, 1/4 cup of white distilled vinegar, and up to 1/2 teaspoon of liquid dish soap in a spray bottle. For extremely hard spots increase the amount of vinegar. Apple cider will also work if you do not have vinegar.
